THE GIST OF LYRICS..... you know - very often, when we listen to songs, especially when we're young - we get nonchalant/apathetic about the lyrics. Myself, as a teenager hailing from the Backstreet Boys/Nsync era - we would simply adore songs, just solely for the way the melody goes..as long as it's got a good beat, funky lyrics - something like "Nsync's Bye Bye Bye" or "Backstreet Boys's Larger than Life" Upon closer examination - i made a startling discovery - the lyrics to the 2 songs above, have no intrinsic value at all, it's like these lyrics are so lacking in passion..that it's unable to touch one's heart.. But - after a decade of listening to music - i began to take note of the lyrics, of the songs i love. Somehow, for certain songs, it's like one is able to resonate with the lyrics itself. It's as if, the lyrics are describing the vulnerable emotions which we feel within - & what we went through in life... "Thought you needed Needed someone true But you changed your mind Or had I failed you? Wish you’d been careful with my heart But you tore it apart And broke an angel’s heart The kiss was true Has to end somehow But I am livin’ proof of what love is about" "Should i Stay" by Dreamz FM The next time you listen to a song, take some time to examine the lyrics. ;) u know- appreciating the song for it's melody/tune is getting kinda superficial.... |
